New book, new stories... cats
It’s an exciting time for me as a writer. I have a new collection that came out in 2023 (not that any of you seem to be reading it). There is a minute possibility of one of the stories therein reaching video at some future point. No details, other than that vague notice, but still interesting.
I had short stories appear in two anthologies, both published by Short-Wave Publishing. My story “Secretshite.Txt” appeared in OBSOLESCENSE and my story “I Was Going to Tell You tonight” appeared in DEATHREALM: SPIRITS – and has made the recommended reading list for the Bram Stoker Award. Ordering information for both books is below, but I want to get to the bigger news.
In August, my novella “When You Leave I Disappear” will be published. It is up now for pre-order at the very reasonable price of $10.99 for the paperback. I want to explain about Short Wave Publishing books, though. If you order direct from their shop, you don’t just get a book. They package their books in unique shipping containers that are mockups of the cover art on the book, or the series. They include cool swag. They ship promptly. It is a very good deal at $10.99. You can also pre-order through other retail outlets, but you’ll just get the book in that case (Arguably the point of the order, but still…)
This novella began as a glimpse into the mind of an author who was famous as the creator of a bestselling series. She’s begun to doubt herself, uncertain if she has talent, or just hit the right editor on the right day and fed the mediocrity machine all the way to the top. She wants to do more, to connect with her work and readers…. Then things started getting weird. The book shifted directions and plots several times. Chance interactions brought new insights. Even the title came from one of the moments when I was absolutely stuck and sent me down the correct and final path to conclusion. It’s a dark story. It has stories within a story. It is not what it seems. It’s one of the best things I’ve ever written.
“A tale that will haunt you long after you’ve finished reading.” —Ray Garton, author of Live Girls
