The Canterbury Nightmares Live for Preorder

The anthology I have been editing forever, The Canterbury Nightmares, is finally live for pre-order, and will be making its way to readers this fall. The authors who contributed are amazingly talented, and it was an honor to add this to their bodies of work. There was a theme, but it evolved (as themes do) into something very different. While it’s not exactly the book I envisioned, weary survivors of the pandemic meeting up at a small motel, all of them headed to the Grand Canyon for their own reasons… telling their stories, it did end up being a book of people telling dark, sometimes painful stories. It became the book it was meant to be, and I think Chaucer would have approved. Below you’ll see the beginnings of each story… You can pre-order the book here. Some review copies will be available:

During those bad years, I was also able to finish a novel and put together a collection of my own. The novel, Jurassic Ark, is another book that became a new book during the writing. In retrospect I should have given up the pithy title and T-Rex cover after that happened, and sales have suffered. While it is a retelling of the Noah’s Ark myth with dinosaurs, it’s more a story about a family, faced with a challenge and responsibility they knew could end the lives of friends and family, that would wipe away the world as they knew it, and the fallot from that knowledge. It’s a story of magic, and hope, love and adventure. I hope some of you will want to read it (it’s also available in unabridged audio narrated by Joshua Saxon)

The collection, which came out this past December, is The Devil’s in the Flaws & Other Dark Truths is also available for sale… the fiction in this book spans decades of my career, but also has a bunch of previously unpublished work, including the title novella.
